“Jesus is the only source of meaning in life. The final heartbeat for the Christian is not the mysterious conclusion to a meaningless existence; rather, it is the grand beginning to a life that will never end.”

Extending my deepest condolences to the Dobson family during this time of loss. Dr. Dobson’s unwavering commitment to building Christ-centered families has left an indelible mark on generations across the globe. His ministry has been a beacon of hope, wisdom, and faith, and we pray that God continues to use both the Dobson family and the ministry to reach hearts worldwide. I listened to Dr. Dobson through the years on Bott radio in St. Louis and Poplar Bluff, Missouri. I mailed my daughter my copy of “Bringing Up Boys” after she had moved to Seattle in 2013. Our family has been greatly blessed by Dr. Dobson’s ministry. Today his faith became sight!!

Dr. Dobson gave me the tools to totally change my heart and approach to my marriage and my children. Dare to Discipline was the second greatest book I ever read after the Bible. He will never be forgotten.

I found focus on the family broadcast by chance (by divine direction) in the first year I came to the United States. As a young Christian and newly married woman his loving advice and empathic voice became my go to program on the radio every single day. It almost seemed like the advice was just crafted for my situation that day. I then read most of his books and learnt the Christian view of many difficult topics. I am so grateful for Dr Dobaon and Focus on the Family for the incredible work upholding families in a Christ honoring manner. I look forward to meeting you on the other side Dr Dobson.

Dr. Dobson was one of our great influencers in our early years of marriage and ministry. He was a true example of a man being used of God to help the masses. One of the things we will always remember was the first time we met him at one of the General Assemblies, he acted as if he had known us for years . Thinking of the loss of Billy Graham and Dr. Dobson all I can say is "May all who go before us find us faithful".

My condolences to Shirley, Danae, and Ryan. I pray for the Prince of Peace to grant you His peace as you grieve. I remember being an undergraduate student at Indiana University in the 1980s and I was contemplating majoring in psychology, but as a Christian, I wasn't sure how well psychology would fit with my faith. Then I heard about a Christian psychologist, Dr. James Dobson. I read some of his books and listened to some of his radio programs and I discovered you can be a Christian and a psychologist. 🙂 I eventually found my way to Rosemead School of Psychology at BIOLA university. As providence would have it, Ryan Dobson was graduating from BIOLA the year I earned my MA from Rosemead so I got to hear his dad speak at commencement. It was so awesome to get to hear Dr. Dobson in person. A few years later I graduated from Rosemead with my PsyD and have enjoyed being a Christian and a psychologist for more than two decades. Thanks Dr. Dobson for showing those of us that followed what was possible.

My husband and I have been married for 54 years and credit Dr Dobson for getting us through the rough spots. We listened to his radio ministry together each evening. We attended church weekly in addition to numerous Bible Studies because of his teachings. He stressed how important it is to put Christ at the center of your marriage and life. With his wisdom and God's help we have been blessed with 6 children who also love and serve the Lord. And yes, they survived Dare to Discipline and are better for it. We will always hold your teachings and passion for the family in high esteem. Until we meet again...

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Dr. Dobson each afternoon on our local gospel radio station here in The Bahamas around 2013. More recently I would seek out The Focus On The Family Program on youtube. Surprisingly my hubby just told me he listened last month to the program on radio. Praying for his entire family during this difficult time.

Because of Dr. Dobson, my dad had a radio "dad" that gave him the tools he needed to bring up 2 girls. My sister and I lived and breathed Adventures in Odyssey growing up. And I now have shelves with his books to refer back to as a mom myself. Thank you, Dr. & Mrs. Dobson! Your obedience has spurred us on to love and good works!

My wife and I raised our children with Focus on the Family and books from Dr. Dobson in the 80s. We are so grateful for Dr. Dobson and his ministry. He has touched so many lives, and he advocated for the advancement of God's kingdom. Dr. Dobson will be sorely missed. Condolences to the Dobson family. I will always remember what he said about if he ever had a personalized license plate, it would be "Be There!" This is a constant reminder about sharing God's salvation to others so that they can "be there" with me. Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for your remarkable testimony and life. We celebrate what God has done through you.

I'm praying for Shirley, Ryan, Danea, and the entire world in hearing the loss of Dr. Dobson. What a wonderful legacy. Who will step up now? The world needs more people like him. I would listen to Focus on my way to work, crying that I couldn't be a stay at home mom, but tune in, the very next morning to hear Dr. Dobson and the Word of God! My husband and I would listen to Adventures in Odyssey with our children and follow up with scripture and examples of how they could apply those valuable lessons to their own lives and situations they were experiencing. They all had their own subscriptions to Clubhouse, Clubhouse Jr., and my daughter especially was touched by many articles from Brio. Thank you, seems so shallow to describe the admiration and gratitude my family and I have for Dr. Dobson. There's really no words to describe the depth of love and gratitude we have for a man we never met in person, but feel like was/is a part of our family. Praise God! We will meet on the other side of Jordan!

My family has been impacted in the greatest of ways because of the tremendous wisdom, faithfulness, and obedience of Dr. James Dobson. My marriage and my parenting are better because of the encouragement and wisdom he imparted over the years through his books and all the various resources provided for families through Focus. I remember listening to Focus on the Family on the radio as a young adult; I'll never forget the episode where Dr. Dobson talked about the great need for foster and adoptive families to step up to the plate. That episode opened my heart wide open to the need, and though the process took years to come to fruition; our family has been forever changed through the beautiful gift of adoption through foster care. Dr. Dobson will always and forever have a special place in our hearts because it was his voice I heard making the plea for Christian families to stand in the gap. It's hard to adequately put into words the tremendous impact he has had on our family's life, but suffice it to say, he is and will continue to be, remembered often. To his family - thank you for sharing him with us over the years; we are mourning with you, but also rejoicing with you. He is home with our precious Jesus; to God be the glory.

You touched my life. I am the 10th of 13 children from a small town in Northern Ontario Canada. Mom was a Sunday School teacher at a tiny Baptist Church as I started a library there as a young girl. Your books among them. Years later, after being away for university, working in a global CPA firm I returned to the North to start my own family and we did a young parents group with your book "Bringing up Boys". Looking back, it was a very special time. You have blessed many Dr. Dobson and we lift up your family and rejoice that we had you here on earth for a season.

I was a stay at home mom and money was so tight. I looked forward to the monthly newsletter and any opportunity to learn how to be a godly wife and mother. Dr. James Dobson was not just one of the most influential Christian leaders in America, he was a strong defender of the family, morality and traditional values. He was never afraid to advocate for what he believed in, even if it led to him being shamed and cancelled. A friend of mine gave me Clubhouse Magazine when I was in elementary school and introduced me to the magazine's amazing stories and the Adventures in Odyssey series when I was younger. I learned important lessons from the magazine like lessons regarding how to stay safe online and on social media. And Plugged In has helped me realize which forms of entertainment have good values and which ones do not. In a sea of indecency and cultural degeneracy in the media and certain public schools, abortion absolutely on demand, and opposition to the traditional sexual binary, Dobson was a life preserver and his principles have guided me and my media company forward. RIP James Dobson.

God bless his family with peace knowing he is in His presence, hearing 'Well done my good and faithful servant.'... Collapse

I met Dr Dobson in the early 70's when he came to New Jersey to address a conference on families. I have followed his teachings from his radio broadcasts and several of his books through the years raising my kids and he was right on about so much. It's a great loss for us with his passing but the ultimate gain for him now being home with the Lord. Condolences to his family and friends.

Sad day for us! Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for your obedience in following God's calling and for making such an impact in my life in the early 80's as I was navigating a new life as a young wife and mother. Your practical advise and biblical counsel has helped me stay focused on doing what God has called me to do, being who God called me to be and to continue the race and run it well. Condolences and Prayers to your Loved Ones, Blessings and Protection to the Ministry and Staff.

I didn't realize I shared Dr. Dobson's birthday, though 25 years later. I'm ever so grateful for his wisdom that helped my parents raise me as brand new Christians when I was already a teenager. His teaching on marriage probably helped them stay together for 63 years. His teaching and FOF organization also helped me raise 4 children and build a lasting marriage. He is one of my heroes, whom I can't wait to meet when I get to heaven.

What an amazing legacy Dr. Dobson has left behind! Many years ago, as young Christian parents wading our way through raising three children, my husband and I needed all the advice and guidance we could get, and Focus on the Family provided great resources. We utilized Dr. Dobson's teaching cassette tapes (that tells you how long ago this was!) when we took each of our children on a one-on-one trip to discuss "the birds and the bees." Having those tapes to help guide the conversations was priceless. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Dobson and all who pour their lives into serving families.

Can’t believe the news! He was so influential and I for one will miss how much the Lord worked through the life of Dr Dobson. All to His glory! Because of him, children in the USA have been raised in Christ’s SALVATION! Evangelicals will miss him. Rest in peace!

To Dr. Dobson's family, friends, and coworkers: My prayers for God's comfort for you are first and foremost. My son, born in 1975, and my daughter, born in 1979, were recipients of his wisdom as I listened to him daily from his early years on Focus on the Family. His calm, reassuring voice was as welcome as his advice. Because he based his teaching on God and His Word, it was trustworthy. And he searched for other people who could share their wisdom and experiences as well. Through him I felt as if I had an encourager on the sidelines. God used Dr. Dobson mightily through these past 50 years to bring a culture back to Him.

A wonder friend by way of reading his books for child training and hearing his voice on how to be a public servant through his radio station and monthly periodical, Citizen Magazine. I was a young mother and was not prepared to start a family. A friend gave me Dare to Discipline and in this book was so much wisdom for this young mother. Dr Dobson always encouraged never condemned. He taught us to fight the good fight against pornography and get involved in the public arena. I have to admit feeling like David against Goliath. Thank you Papa Dobson! You were an amazing surrogate father to myself and the fatherless.

My first memory of Dr. Dobson was when my church did a retreat and showed his parenting videos. I was just a child at the time but I believe part of my rearing came from his wisdom. My husband and I have listened to him for years and have always appreciated his Godly stance and defense of the family. He will be greatly missed.

What an honor to work with/for Dr. Dobson from 1987-1994 starting in Pomona and then moving to Colorado Springs with Focus on the Family. He was so kind, caring and genuine. My brother-in-law was right hand man to Paul (Dr. Dobson's V.P.) Dr. Dobson's love for kids was very evident as he would let my nieces jump off his desk! As someone who has experienced much grief, my heart & prayers go out to Shirley and the kids/grands. SO comforting to know that we will have eternity to spend with those who go before us. Thank you, Dr. Dobson for the millions of lives you have touched over the years.

Focus on the Family was a lifeline for this young mom in 1979. Our first child was the poster child for his book ' the strong willed child." I was so thankful someone else had walked that road, shared their experiences and provided. hope. I used many of his marriage books and will be greatful that he knew who to bring on a program. He talked of issues that were relevant but not many pastors wanted to talk about.

Of all of his profound books, Love Must Be Tough had the most impact on my life and that of my family. He was able to communicate powerful, life-giving principles so effectively. I think he opened the doors to a new, more effective era of godly Christian counseling.

A great man with a great mission from Jesus to educate and help families grow in Jesus and how to navigate relationships of every age. I will miss his influence but his books, cd's etc will continue to bless many. May God comfort his family. He will shine in God's history hall of fame for all he did and how he loved here on earth.
